Swim for Life is a fundraising swim marathon organised yearly since 1996 by the non-profit organisation (a.s.b.l.) Brussels Gay Sports (BGS). The money raised is transferred in full to concrete AIDS help and prevention projects. More than 400,000 € have been raised to date.

The principle behind Swim for Life is simple: in the weeks ahead of the event, swimmers look for sponsors – among their family, friends and colleagues – to swim a maximum number of pool lengths in relay. They collect donations in cash or promises of donation via bank transfer in the form of donation certificates.

The swimathon takes place at the Victor Boin pool the day before World AIDS Day (Sunday 27 November), from noon until 6 p.m. The event is open to the public and members of the press.
